Next week the Community Foundation of Grundy County is launching “Non-Profit Tools for Success – Technical Assistance & Capacity Building for Not-for-Profit Staff, Boards, & Volunteers.”
Presented in an “after hours” setting, content experts from the region will present their knowledge on a particular issue that will help non-profits improve their skills and build their capacity to better serve their clients and the community as a whole.
Area non-profits of all shapes and sizes are invited to attend. This includes social services, government agencies, churches, schools, and booster clubs. Staff, boards, and volunteers are welcome.
“Non-Profit Tools for Success” will be held on the 1st Thursday of each month at 5:00 pm in the conference room of the Grundy County Housing Authority, 1802 N. Division, Morris. Refreshments will be served.
We are excited that Christina Chapman Van Yperen of the Morris Daily Herald will be our first featured speaker on June 5th. Her presentation is “The Real Purpose of a Press Release.” She will address how to get your news items published and, better yet, what is the real story you are trying to tell?
There will be no meeting on July 3rd due to the Independence Day holiday. Topics and speakers after that are:
August 7th – Jay Fillman will present “Non-Profit Financials”
September 4th – Lea Ann Skogsberg will present “Grantwriting”
October 2nd – Caroline Portlock will present “Human Resources for Non-Profits”
We are also accepting nominations for future speakers and/or topics. Have you heard a great speaker at another conference who we can bring to town? What are some topics you are struggling with in your organization?
Please send your ideas to Julie Buck at 941-0852 or [email protected]
We also ask for your RSVP as we are serving refreshments.
The Foundation has had this project on our minds for a while and are excited that we are starting it next week. We hope you all can come!
