Jacob R. Perry Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is being given in memory of Jacob R. Perry (Jake), who was a former student at Saratoga Elementary School and Morris High School.  Jake was an incredible athlete at both schools.  Jake loved music and taught himself how to play the guitar and the piano.  He developed a significant mental illness in his early 20’s and worked extremely hard with mental health professionals to overcome the impacts of his illness.  Jake lost his life in a tragic accident on March 14, 2019 at the age of 27.  His family and friends wish to keep his memory alive with this scholarship.

The family of Jacob R. Perry intends to award one or more scholarships with the minimum amount equaling $1,000 to a graduate of Morris High School who plans to pursue a degree in music and/or the performing arts, or a health and/or mental health related field such as nursing, psychiatry, or social work at an accredited two or four-year college or university.  Consideration will also be given to a graduate of Morris High School who was a member of the high school boys’ or girls’ basketball team and plans to purse a degree in another field at an accredited two or four-year college or university. Students who graduated from Saratoga School District will receive a slight advantage when determining the recipient of this scholarship.
