All congregations in Grundy County
are invited to an evening of
fellowship and learning
with Rev. Dr. Clare Butterfield
of Faith in Place
Monday, March 12, 2012
7:00 p.m.
First Presbyterian Church
200 E. Jackson, Morris
As a follow-up to last winter’s “Creating Congregational Cultures of Generosity” series with the Lake
Institute for Faith & Giving, we are excited to bring another dynamic speaker and topic to Grundy County to help congregations develop their passions for action and understand their capacity for impact.
Church teams who attended the Lake series asked for assistance in getting their congregations out of the building to serve others. But they also admitted that their creativity can fall short when trying to think of ideas for getting out and about in the community, working on projects that serve others, whether it’s our neighbors in need, the environment, or projects to introduce children to faith.
The mission of Faith in Place is to “help people of faith understand that issues of ecology and economy, including care for Creation, are at the forefront of social justice. At Faith in Place we believe in housing the homeless, feeding the hungry and clothing the naked. But even if we do all those things, and love our brothers and sisters with our whole heart, it will not matter if we neglect the ecological conditions of our beautiful and fragile planet.”
As Faith in Place’s executive director, Rev. Dr. Clare Butterfield preaches and teaches regularly at
congregations throughout Illinois, while coordinating programmatic and organizational development. She started as Faith in Place’s original organizer and developed the organization into today’s regional scale. She is the community minister for Unity Temple in Oak Park.
Refreshments will be served by the Outreach Committee of the
First Presbyterian Church, Morris.
Please RSVP to 815-941-0852 or [email protected]
This evening of fellowship is a program of the “Faith in Giving” series of the
Community Foundation of Grundy County.
